Week Thirteen- Blocking Realism/Naturalism
Week Fourteen- Blocking Theater of the Absurd


Objectives:
  • Students will practice and perform skills necessary preparing productions for the Texas secondary school competitions.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge needed for directing, managing, and judging and directing U.I.L. competitions.
  • Students will prepare and turn in a notebook of notes, charts, and scenes from class.
  • Students will prepare and produce a final directing in style lab:
    They will prepare scenes from the styles covered in class. They will  bring copies of a UIL-appropriate scenes from scripts from assigned styles. They will select performers in advance from within or outside of our class.  At the lab performance that is to be open to the public,
    they will guide their performers in read-throughs of the scenes. They will be prepared to guide their actors in appropriate acting styles for their scenes. They will then block and direct the scenes.
    Finally, they will present how they would use the UIL set pieces for their scenes.

Grading: Two thirds of the grade is to be based on class discussions, activities, and assignments. One third
of the grade is to be based on the final directing in style lab.
