Projects- Each week a costume design for a specific period of theater history is to be required. First find a play that would require a costume from each period above. You then are to choose a character for whom you wish to design a costume. You are to design a costume that reflects not only the period but the gender, age, size, class, status and so forth of the character . Your "design" may be a drawing, painting, photograph, or xerox copy of a costume. If it is in black and white, decide what colors would be appropriate. Along with the design, you are to provide a word-processed description of the costume, including appropriate fabric, fit, padding etc. of the individual pieces of the costume. Be prepared to give a brief oral presentation that includes a synopsis of the play you have chosen, an analysis of the character you are costuming, and a description of the costume itself. You are to keep your graded designs in a notebook to be turned in at the mid-term and at the end of the semester. The notebook is to be returned to you.

Grading-One fourth of each students final grade is to be based on the oral presentations, one fourth on the designs, one fourth on class participation, and one fourth on written tests.
