Directing 


Text- Stage Directing by Jim Patterson

Purpose of the Course- Students are to direct a dramatic production.

Directing Project- Negotiated with instructor

Grading- One third of the final grade is to be based on class discussion, activities, and assignments. One third of the final grade is to be based on quizzes, tests, and the final examination. One third of the final grade is to be based on demonstrated skill, technique, dependability, effort, and time invested in directing.

A production notebook and log to be handed in at final examination.


Final examination- Detailed objective & short answer essays

Week Two- Selecting the Script

Weeks Three and Four- Analyzing and Researching the Script

Weeks Five and Six-- Conceiving the Production 

Weeks Seven - Casting

Week Eight and Nine- Rehearsing: Shaping, Staging, Polishing

Weeks Ten-  Performing

Week Eleven- Evaluating
